Yuvraj, who attracted a bid of whopping Rs. 16 crores last season played for Delhi Daredevils. However, the southpaw failed to deliver big and could manage only 248 runs from 14 games at an average of 19 .
The reports further say, Sunrisers Hyderabad are likely to release fast bowler Dale Steyn, who was purchased for Rs. 9.5 crores. He might still be considered the best international bowler, but in the IPL last year he could take only three wickets in six games at an unflattering average of 66.66 and a profligate strike rate of 38. Trent Boult replaced Steyn as the preferred foreign fast bowler in the later parts of the campaign. It is quite clear that Sunrisers will release Steyn, and get some more value into their team with the money acquired.
Among other prominent names set to be released are Dinesh Karthik from Royal Challengers Bangalore, King XI Punjab’s Gerorge Bailey, Thishara Perera.
Earlier, two new franchises Pune and Rajkot had the option to pick up to five players each from suspended CSK and RR. The two new teams did pick players like MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, etc. while the rest of the players will go in fresh auction pool scheduled on February 6, 2016, in Bengaluru.
