Although Virender Sehwag has retired recently from all formats of international cricket with immediate effect, and had announced that he will also not be playing in the cash-rich Twenty20 league. So the news from the franchise has come more as a surprise that they will be retaining sehwag and he will be associated with the tournament in some or the other way, if he decides not to play.
Sehwag was bought in the players’ auction by Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) for Rs 3.2 crore in 2014 and has been a regular player for the KXIP. Even though he has retired, the team is not intending to let go the player and the experience that he brings along.
Sehwag recently featured in the Cricket All Stars T20 League. He was donning the Sachin's Blasters jersey where he also went on to score a blistering half-century in the first T20 of the series.
He has also been named as one of the 12 marquee players for Masters Champions League which is going to happen in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 2016. All these marquee players will be equally distributed among six teams. The teams have not been announced yet but it may be on its way anytime soon.
